Discover the region
For an unforgettable visit, we recommend the following tourist attractions: Staufenberg Castle with its impressive panoramic view of the Black Forest, the baroque church of St. Blasius as well as the monastery of St. Peter with its magnificent library from the 18th century.
If you are interested in culture, you should definitely visit one of the many festivals, such as the traditional wine festival or the well-known jazz festival in Freiburg. A trip on the Black Forest Railway through idyllic valleys and past spectacular views should also not be missed.
Culinary Glottertal offers many regional specialities such as the famous Black Forest ham or the sweet "Schneckennudeln". Also be sure to try the local wine directly from the vintner!
The best seasons to do outdoor activities are spring and autumn, when the temperatures are mild and the leaves in the forests turn colourful. In summer you can cool off at one of the many lakes or take a hike through the cooler mountain regions. In winter, Glottertal is a popular destination for skiers.
When it rains, there are also many indoor activities such as visits to museums or shopping trips in Freiburg.
Where is the most beautiful? That's hard to say, as every place has its own charm. But hikes along the river Glotter or to the top of the Kandelberg with its breathtaking view over the region are particularly recommended.
Glottertal is definitely worth a trip - whether you are an outdoor adventurer, culture enthusiast or enjoy regional specialities. We hope this guide will help you with your planning and look forward to welcoming you here soon!
