Diez is located on the edge of the Taunus Mountains and is surrounded by picturesque forests and hills. It also lies on the Lahn, a river with crystal-clear water known for its canoeing. The town itself has a rich history and was first mentioned in the 9th century.

One of Diez's main attractions is the 17th century Oranienstein Castle, which sits on a hill overlooking the town. Today, the castle houses a museum as well as a restaurant and offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.

For culture lovers, there are many options in Diez: Visit the town church of St. Peter or the historic market square with its half-timbered houses from the 16th-18th centuries.

If it rains, you can still do some activities: Go to the indoor swimming pool or visit one of the many museums in the area such as the Nassauisches Landesmuseum in Wiesbaden.

Culinary Diez has a lot to offer - be sure to try the regional specialities such as Handkäs' mit Musik (a sour cheese) or apple wine (a type of cider).

Outdoor activities are particularly popular here - hiking through the forest or along the Lahn, cycling on the well-developed cycle paths or canoeing on the river are just a few possibilities. The best time of year for these activities is in spring and summer.

If you're looking for a place to be at its best in Diez, be sure to visit the old town - with its narrow streets and charming houses, it feels like you've stepped back in time.

Overall, Diez is definitely worth a visit - with its picturesque location, rich history and many leisure activities, there is something for everyone to discover here. We hope this guide has been helpful in your planning!

Tour anders Herrum gemacht.
