Geographically, the city lies directly on the banks of the Moselle and is surrounded by the Calmont vineyards. The region is known for its excellent wines, especially Rieslings, which can be tasted at a wine tasting.

The Reichsburg Castle towers majestically over the town and is an absolute highlight for any tourist. It was built in the 19th century on old ruins and today houses the "Cochem Castle Treasure" museum. Another cultural highlight are the historic old town alleys with their half-timbered houses from the Middle Ages.

For active holidaymakers there are many outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling along the Moselle or through the nearby forests of the Hunsrück. In summer, you can also go swimming or take boat trips on the Moselle.

If it rains, a visit to the mustard mill museum in Cochem-Cond is recommended, as well as the leisure pool "Freizeitzentrum Cochem" with sauna facilities to relax.

Culinary delights await you in the many restaurants around the market square with local specialities such as Spundekäs' (a spicy cheese dish) or Zwiebelkuchen.

It is particularly beautiful in Cochem in spring when the vineyards blossom and in autumn during the grape harvest season. But winter also has its charm with the cosy Christmas markets and festively decorated half-timbered houses.

Overall, Cochem is a perfect destination for anyone looking for a combination of culture, nature and culinary delights. This travel guide is designed to help you make the most of your stay in Cochem!
