Geographically, Buch is located on the eastern edge of the Neu-Ulm district, close to the border with Bavaria. The region is characterised by its picturesque landscape: rolling hills, forests and lakes dominate the picture. Particularly impressive are the Danube floodplains, an extensive river landscape with a variety of animal and plant species.

Touristically relevant are above all the sights in the vicinity of Buch. Those who enjoy experiencing history should visit Illereichen Castle or explore the Cambodunum Archaeological Park. Cultural highlights include the Theatertreffen Ulm/Neu-Ulm or the International Donaufest.
