The geographical location of Breit, Bernkastel-Wittlich is simply breathtaking. Surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards, a unique landscape with many opportunities for outdoor activities awaits visitors here. The region is known for its excellent wines and the hospitality of its inhabitants.

Sights relevant to tourism include Veldenz Castle and the historic old town of Wittlich with its 16th century half-timbered houses. The ruins of Machern Monastery are also worth a visit.

Culture enthusiasts should not miss the Cusanusstift cultural centre - one of the oldest buildings in the city with a rich history as a former Augustinian canons' monastery.

Breit also has many events to offer such as the annual wine festival or the traditional St. Nicholas market during Advent.

For gourmets, there are numerous restaurants and cafés where you can enjoy regional specialities - including, of course, excellent wines from local growing areas! The "Alte Mühle" restaurant, for example, serves delicious dishes made from regional ingredients in a cosy atmosphere.

Outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling or canoeing are possible here all year round. However, it is particularly beautiful in spring and summer, when the nature around Breit is in full bloom. The Moselle also offers many opportunities for water sports activities.

Even in rainy weather, there is plenty to discover in the region - for example, the museum "Cultural History of Winegrowing" or a guided tour through the historic old town of Bernkastel-Kues.

Breit, Bernkastel-Wittlich is a destination with many facets and has something to offer for everyone. Whether you are interested in culture, culinary delights or outdoor activities - this town is definitely worth a visit!

Also Wegzehrung mitnehmen. Wer draussen schlafen will findet hier immer gute Spots.

We've walked this route from Mainz to Trier, in July 2020 in 7 days. It was warm (hot) and sunny, and we went through vineyards, forests, fields and small villages, just a nice variety of landscapes. It was also really quiet, almost no other hikers. Mainz is a really nice city to start from, and to end in beautiful Roman Trier is also great. I'd really recommend this route.
