Discover the region

Geographically, Borler lies on the edge of the North Eifel Nature Park and is surrounded by the picturesque landscape of the Eifel. The area is characterised by its volcanic activity, which took place thousands of years ago and still leaves traces today. The Maare - crater lakes left behind by former volcanic eruptions - are particularly impressive.

Borler itself is known for its idyllic location and tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of larger towns. Here you can switch off and relax or enjoy numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling or fishing.

Topically relevant sights include Bürresheim Castle with its well-preserved medieval architecture and the Maria Martental Monastery with a beautiful 14th century church.

Cultural highlights also come in the form of museums such as the Strohn Volcano House, which provides information about the region's history of origin.

For culinary specialities, be sure to try local specialities such as "Döppekooche" (a type of potato pancake) or "Himmel un Äd" (a dish made of blood and liver sausage).

When it rains there is still plenty to do in Borler. For example, visit the Gerolstein Museum of Natural History or relax in the thermal baths at Bad Bertrich.

The best season for outdoor activities is spring and summer, when temperatures are pleasant and the countryside is in full bloom. Recommended places for hiking include the Eifelsteig as well as the Lieserpfad.

In conclusion, Borler is definitely worth a trip - whether for a relaxing holiday or active experiences in the midst of a unique landscape.
