Becheln is picturesquely situated at the foot of the Taunus Mountains on the river Lahn. The region is known for its idyllic landscapes with rolling hills, dense forests and sparkling rivers. The village itself has a long history and is famous for its well-preserved 17th century half-timbered houses.

One of the most important sights is Oranienstein Castle, a magnificent 18th century Baroque palace with impressive gardens. The town church of St. Martinus is also worth a visit: it dates back to the 12th century and houses beautiful Gothic works of art.

Culture enthusiasts should not miss the annual cultural festival - here local musicians perform on various stages or you can visit the local history museum with its extensive collection of historical objects.

For gourmets, Becheln offers some culinary delights such as regional wines or hearty dishes like Handkäs' mit Musik (a typical Hessian dish). Another highlight are the many farm shops in the area where you can buy fresh produce directly from the producer.

In Becheln and the surrounding area there are numerous outdoor activities. Hiking or cycling through the picturesque landscapes is a pleasure at any time of year. In summer, the open-air swimming pool near Oranienstein Castle as well as canoeing on the Lahn are enticing. In winter, a sleigh ride on the slopes of the Taunus Mountains is a great option.

Even in rainy weather, you don't have to miss out on activities: A visit to the thermal baths in Bad Ems or the cinema in Limburg are good alternatives.

Where is the most beautiful? That's hard to say - every year has its own beauty! In spring, flowers and trees blossom everywhere, while in summer the forests glow green and you can sit outside to enjoy the sun. Autumn, on the other hand, enchants with its bright colours and the smell of roasted Federweisser (a young wine), while winter makes for a romantic stay with snow-covered landscapes.

Becheln is definitely worth a trip for all nature lovers, culture enthusiasts and gourmets!
