Geographically, Altomünster is located about 35 kilometres northwest of Munich. The town is located on the edge of the Augsburg-Westliche Wälder nature park and thus offers a breathtaking landscape with many outdoor activities such as hiking or cycling. The best time of year for this is summer, when the sun shines and the weather is pleasantly warm.

Altomünster's main attractions are its many sights: Start your tour of the town centre at the baroque monastery complex with the Basilica of St. Alto and the former Benedictine monastery - a real highlight! The Alte Mühle museum is also worth a visit: here you can learn more about the history of the town.

Culture enthusiasts will also be thrilled by the annual summer of culture: In July, there are many concerts, theatre performances and exhibitions to admire here. Another event takes place in autumn - the popular potato festival attracts thousands of visitors from near and far every year.

But Altomünster also has plenty to offer in the way of culinary delights: Be sure to try the famous "Alto beer", which has been produced for centuries according to the traditional art of brewing. The regional Schutzengel cheese should also not be missed!

What to do when the weather is bad? No problem - visit the indoor swimming pool in Altomünster or take a guided tour of the historic brewery. A visit to the monastery shop is also worthwhile to buy regional products.

Where is it most beautiful in Altomünster? Definitely: the town centre with its baroque architecture and picturesque squares such as Marienplatz or Kreuztor-Platz are definitely worth a walk.

Overall, Altomünster is a destination that is definitely worth a trip. With this travel guide, you now have all the important information for your stay in your pocket!
