Omis

Omis is one of the most picturesque and fascinating towns in central Dalmatia, located at the mouth of the river Cetina in the Adriatic Sea. It is squeezed to the north by the Dinara massif, which has made it a place of adventure (rafting, climbing, hiking, zip-lining), relaxation (the town's wonderful sandy beach - Velika Plaza - which runs smoothly into the sea) and historic sites in the old town.

Discover the region

Its natural beauty, given by the Dinara mountain range that winds along the coast and practically engulfs the town, is matched only by its unusual history as the location of the most successful and feared pirates of the Adriatic.

For nearly two centuries, pirates from Omis attacked Venetian ships and even papal galleons sailing to Palestine. So powerful that in 1221 Pope Honorius II organised a crusade against them, which he lost. No wonder the fortress cities decided it was better to pay tribute than lose their ships.

Today, Omiš is a place for other kind of adventures - water rafting, via ferrata climbing, hiking, ziplining and more. The old town with its winding streets offers a chance to explore the beautiful medieval buildings on foot and sample local culinary specialities from one of the many restaurants here. And let's not forget the nearby beach, which invites you to swim and relax.

Omiš is thus an attractive destination for a wide variety of tourists.

Da kommt man wohl eher 6-7h.

Ferrata is nothing special, very easy, but the views are amazing so that's why it's worth to do it. We took the hard way down - quite steep and it slides a little bit, but nothing dangerous. Ticket to visit castle 25kuna.
