The Waldviertel spa community of Moorbad Harbach is located in the picturesque hill valley between Nebelstein and Mandelstein. It belongs to the district of Gmünd and includes the villages of Harbach, Hirschenwies and Lauterbach as well as Maißen, Schwarzau and Wultschau.
Awarded the hiking quality seal of the Austrian Hiking Villages, Moorbad Harbach is crisscrossed by a network of hiking trails about 100 kilometers long. In addition, the well-known health and rehabilitation center in the village combines the highest medical expertise with the feel-good factor of a 4-star hotel.

Due to its course along the border with the Czech Republic, the municipality is engaged in cross-border activities. Workshops and events support lively creative exchange as well as good international neighborliness. This is also commemorated by the Milestone of Peace: the monument was erected in 2010 as a sign of friendship and cooperation between the border communities of Moorbad Harbach and Horni Stropnice.
