Geographical location and features

Hochfilzen is located in the picturesque Kitzbühel district in Austria. The municipality lies on a plateau between the Leoganger Steinberge and the Pillersee valley. This unique geographical location offers an impressive backdrop of majestic mountains, green meadows, and clear lakes.

Touristically relevant sights

One of the main attractions of Hochfilzen is the biathlon center, which serves as the venue for various international competitions. Here, visitors can experience the fascination of biathlon up close and even step into the role of an athlete themselves.

Other places worth seeing are the pilgrimage church Maria Heimsuchung, whose origins date back to the 15th century, as well as the Hochfilzen local history museum, which offers an interesting insight into the history and tradition of the region.

Cultural highlights and events

Hochfilzen regularly hosts cultural events, such as traditional folk music evenings or farmers' markets. A special highlight is the annual marksmen's festival in summer, where historic marksmen's clubs from the whole region come together to celebrate their traditions.

Culinary specialties

The regional cuisine in Hochfilzen is characterized by hearty dishes and savory taste experiences. Be sure to try Tiroler Gröstl, a delicious mix of potatoes, meat, and onions, or the traditional Kaiserschmarren dessert.

Main outdoor activities

Hochfilzen is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. In summer, you can enjoy wonderful hiking or cycling while taking in the breathtaking mountain scenery. In winter, the PillerseeTal ski area entices with well-prepared slopes and cross-country skiing trails.

The best seasons include spring, when nature comes back to life, and autumn, when the leaves turn colorful. Hikes along the idyllic Pillersee or on the surrounding peaks are especially recommended.

Activities in rainy weather

Even on rainy days, Hochfilzen offers plenty of entertainment options. For example, visit the local indoor swimming pool or relax in one of the cozy cafés in the village center.

The most beautiful place in Hochfilzen

The most beautiful place in Hochfilzen is undoubtedly the Pillersee. This idyllic mountain lake lies nestled between green meadows and majestic peaks. Here you can enjoy the tranquility of nature, take walks, or simply let the view take effect.
