The revised route incorporates most of the 12 mile route but drops down shy of Foggin tor and does not venture as far as Ingra Tor. It then veers left off the road towards the plantation boundary and follows the Devonport leat, all the way back to the Discovery Centre.

This is a great route that combines the coast path with sea views, heathlands and country riverside paths. However we think it’s closer to 18 miles! A word of caution: the A3052 at Newton Poppleford is very busy and there is no footpath as you cross the bridge. A safer, but slightly further option would be to cross the road, go up Lower Way to Harpford bridge and follow the footpath back to Newton Poppleford via Back Lane and recross the road to join the route.

Fabulous route and with the bright sunshine the views across the Jurassic coast were worth the steep climb up to the trig point. Great marshalling and signage so easy to follow.

I walked this rather than ran, but a really lovely walk, with some great little bits that go away from the main paths and a good mix of woodland, country tracks and a bit on the common. I particularly like the end as you drop back down into east budleigh with views of the church and on to the coast, a fitting reward at the end of a 4 hr walk
