Breathtaking! Without great effort this circular hike offers spectacular panorama, interesting cultural insights and exciting discoveries on the lonely south shore. The route has no major climbs. The paths on the north shore are usually cleared and gritted (delayed depending on snow conditions), while on the south shore, the natural, uncleared paths offer a special winter experience. From the bathing area in Weißensee-Oberkirch, the route goes clockwise around the lake. On sunny days, several benches and the climate pavilion in the quiet garden below the parish church of St. Walburga invite you to rest. The picturesque church with its Romanesque tower houses a gem: The high altar was made by Dominikus Zimmermann, the master builder of the famous Wies Church. Over open meadows, past golden-yellow reeds, the route finally leads into the quiet mountain forest on the south shore of the lake. The narrow path is secured at several points but requires surefootedness between rock and ice. Roots, stones, wooden bridges, deep views, a frozen waterfall – there is so much to discover here, time flies.
There are several places to eat in Weißensee.

The section on the south shore can be icy after thaw.In winter, paths or path sections may be snow-covered, frozen and/or icy at any time due to weather conditions. This may require additional equipment such as hiking poles and crampons (very light crampons) to walk the path. Occasionally, it can also happen that paths or sections are not passable at all because it is too icy, there is too much snow, or the clearing vehicles are still busy clearing only the most urgent roads and places. Please take note of this, be understanding, and assess the situation on site each time.
