Past the last houses to the edge of the forest and straight on along path 826, crossing the forestry road several times under the south face of the Pfaffenstein. Over scree fields and steep rock slabs to the right up to the start of the south face route (Schrabacher Steig), an easy via ferrata equipped with ropes and footholds, difficulty A/B. An exposed traverse to the right upwards leads into a rocky gully facilitating the further climb. About 100 meters up and you reach the summit plateau, from which you go left across grassy areas and through dwarf pines to the summit. The steep descent via the Markussteig to the north through dwarf pines with some climbing sections leads around the west side of the Pfaffenstein and through steep forest back to the starting point.
