Starting point is the large parking lot at the Gasthof Donner in the Johnsbach valley. You walk 5 minutes downhill on the footpath to the short road tunnel at the valley entrance. Continue through the tunnel along the stone wall to its end and turn right up the path into the forest, where you reach the start in about 10 minutes. The via ferrata now climbs continuously along the ridge in several sections; the higher you go, the more spectacular the views into the Gesäuse National Park. The descent takes place via the initially partly secured forest path back to the starting point
