Riemer Park, right next to the trade fair grounds, invites visitors to explore the remains of the former airport. At the same time, it offers a green oasis of recreation in the east of the Munich metropolis.

On the way across the exhibition grounds and through Riemer Park, we pass several sights. Right at the beginning we visit the Brainlab Tower, which used to be the control tower of the airport. Via the Wappenhalle we walk past the shopping center to the Departure sign and now enter the green part of the fairground.

We pass the Parallel Gardens and the Garden of Friendship, which, if there is time, can also be strolled through. Now we have already arrived at the Riemer Lake, which invites its visitors for a swim in summer. Along its north shore we follow the path to the other end. From here we make our way back to the trade fair.

This route starts at Messestadt West (U2).

    Roadbook

We start our discovery tour at the west entrance of the trade fair. We walk along the right side of the trade fair lake to the first sight, the Brainlab Tower. The control tower of the former airport, which was opened in 1939, has been a listed building since 1995 and is now used as an event location. The Wappenhalle, which used to be the reception building, is also used for this purpose. At the entrance of the building, we turn left and go straight on until we almost reach the park. Before that, we make a detour to the left at the elementary school to look at the Departure sign that used to decorate the entrance of the Wappenhalle. From here we continue through the greenery, keeping to the left just after the sports field. Continuing to follow the path, we walk directly towards the Riemer Lake.

To our left are the Parallel Gardens and the Garden of Friendship, which were created during the Federal Garden Show 2005. We walk along the shore of the Riemer Lake and turn left again at its end to get to the east entrance of the fair. If you have time and feel like it, you can also extend the loop at this point and visit the remnants of the former runway further to the east of the park.

Hi there, I was interested to know why the park is named Reimer Park please? Reason being that Reimer is the surname of some of my friends. And we will be visiting Munich and staying near to Reimer Park in June.
