No mercy for the calf. This statement is perfect for the 35 kilometers. The infamous chamois trail on the Männlichen drives some sweat beads into the runners' faces. The impressive deep view into the Lauterbrunnen valley is provided as a free reward.
In the face of the trio Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, the E35 leads over the Kleine Scheidegg to the glacier moraine. From the Eigergletscher station, the trail winds around the foot of the legendary Eiger north face towards Grindelwald. The Eiger limestone rock, the mountain wind, and the glaciers are omnipresent on this section.

Public transport
Public-transport-friendly
Thanks to its central location in Europe, Switzerland is served by international trains from over 12 countries. Within Switzerland, intercity trains run directly from Basel and Lucerne to the Jungfrau region. Travelers from Zurich change trains in Bern. Trains run every half hour.
Grindelwald
From Interlaken Ost station, we reach Grindelwald without changing trains via the Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB). Important: Board the rear part of the train because it splits in Zweilütschinen. Those who board the front part end up in Lauterbrunnen. The trip takes 30 minutes to Grindelwald Terminal (V-Bahn). Three minutes later, we reach the end station in the village.
Grindelwald has three stations (Terminal, Grund, and Dorf). The end station (Dorf) is located in the center of Grindelwald.
Wengen
From Interlaken Ost station, we reach Wengen in 44 minutes. With the blue-yellow train of the Berner Oberland Bahn (BOB), we get to Lauterbrunnen. Important: We sit in the front part of the train because it splits in Zweilütschinen. Those who sit in the rear take a detour to Grindelwald. In Lauterbrunnen, we change to the yellow-green train of the Wengernalp Bahn (WAB). This takes us to Wengen in 12 minutes.
Directions
The fastest way to the Jungfrau region from Basel and Geneva is via Bern. From Zurich, the route via Lucerne and the Brünig Pass is recommended. The pass is open year-round.
From the south, arrival is via Grimsel or Susten Pass to the Jungfrau region. Both passes are only open in summer. Alternatively, the Simplon Pass with subsequent car shuttle through the Lötschberg tunnel is recommended.
Grindelwald
From Interlaken, we follow the main road to Zweilütschinen. Here we turn left towards Grindelwald. The whole drive takes about 30 minutes and leads over a partially winding road.
Wengen
Wengen is car-free. If we arrive by car, we must leave it in Lauterbrunnen and take the train. The journey from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen takes about 20 minutes.
Parking
Grindelwald
There are three public parking garages: Parkhaus Eiger+ (252 parking spaces), Parkhaus Sportzentrum (160 parking spaces), and the new Terminal Parking (1000 parking spaces) of the V-Bahn. Alternatively, we can also use the parking lot in Grindelwald Grund.
Wengen
Directly below Lauterbrunnen station is a multi-story parking garage. Alternatively, you can use the parking lot near Lauterbrunnen church. From here, a bus runs to the station every half hour. On foot, it takes about 10 minutes.
A covered passage from the parking garage leads to the trains to Wengen.
