The ultramarathon Chiemgauer100 is rightfully well known far beyond the borders of Bavaria. The route leads through the wonderful mountain world of the Chiemgauer Alps on beautiful paths and often with great views. The well-coordinated organizing team provides excellent service for the athletes! It is worth registering early to secure one of the coveted starting places!

The Chiemgauer 100 mountain ultra is a natural trail adventure run that primarily uses alpine hiking and forest paths and features several significant and technically very difficult ascents and descents. It is modeled on the tougher American 100-mile landscape runs, but the main route is "only" a European 100 km. A "preliminary section" with its own supply for an extension to 100 miles is possible. The run has taken place almost unchanged since 2005.

The route only touches a few points accessible by car and tries to connect the most beautiful natural running trails in the area.

25 km before the finish you can choose an official shortening option to 80 or 141 km by omitting the last mountain.

What it does not have: cult of personality, media spectacle, age group classifications, press packages, prizes or entry fees.

What it has: material prizes raffled among all finishers of 100+ km, trophies for the first 3 women and men of the 100 km routes, finisher T-shirts for all distances, pasta party, dedicated helpers, and an unforgettable experience.

A virtual flight along the route can be done at Doarama.

    Safety information

The run takes place at your own risk and responsibility on an unclosed or unsupervised route; there is local risk of fatal falls. On roads the traffic regulations must be obeyed and traffic observed. Participation should only be by those who dare to assess and evaluate alpine dangers in a racing atmosphere and to take the necessary consequences for their health. It may be necessary to stop the run independently or to interrupt it at an alpine hut, if, for example, natural forces (e.g. storm, lightning) make this necessary. The dangers include, without claiming to be complete: motor vehicle traffic, storms, lightning, slipping, falling, washed-out paths, mudslides, rockfall, mountain bikers, tree felling, vipers, grazing livestock, farm dogs... which can cause injuries up to death.

    Public transport

    Public-transport-friendly

From the Traunstein intercity station, which is on the Munich Salzburg route, take the local train to Ruhpolding.

    Directions

Leave the A8 Munich-Salzburg motorway at the Siegsdorf junction and follow the signs to Ruhpolding. In Ruhpolding, take the bypass through the tunnel and then continue at the roundabout towards Reit im Winkl. At the traffic light near the Wellenhallenbad go straight on and after an industrial area (Aldi...) the sports field is on the left side. From the motorway exit to Ruhpolding to the sports stadium it takes about 10 minutes.
