The Zweibrücken Muschelstein Loop stretches 11 kilometers through Zweibrücken Allee along the Schwarzbach to the city’s four Muschelstein locations: the Ehrwoog Castle ruins in Fasanerie, the Zwingli Church in Niederauerbach, the Ernstweiler Church, and Alexanderskirche in the city center. Along the route, there are attractive excursion destinations such as the rose garden and the Zweibrücken leisure park with a guesthouse, minigolf, and boat rental, the Luitpoldpark, and the Guldenweg.

Roadbook
The route offers many starting points with free parking. We begin at the free parking lot opposite the festival hall on Saarlandstraße. On the way through the alley, we pass to the left the racing meadow of the Zweibrücken stud farm. With some luck, you can see equestrians practicing. At the Schwarzbach weir is the new fish ladder. After descending stairs, you can see fish through the built-in glass pane. The path leads past the new inn with Valentin’s beer garden, playground, minigolf, and boat rental over Rosenweg. It leads along allotment gardens into the district of Niederauerbach. On a detour to Denkmalstraße 4, the first Muschelstein can be found at the Zwingli Church. Back on the main route, the path continues along Rosenweg over a pedestrian crossing into the Fasanerie recreational area. At the foot, you can see on the right the Ehrwoog Castle ruins. Stairs lead up to the Muschelstein, which is embedded in the wall here on the ground. Further into the old Fasanerie forest with numerous tree monuments and the old Fasanerie wall from the 18th century, the path also passes the wild rose garden. Admission is free all year round. Through the Luitpoldpark forest area, over the so-called Marienstein, the path leads out of the forest back into the city. A little along Christian-Schwarz Straße, the route turns right into Stochen and Heckenweg. The Guldenweg runs directly on the Schwarzbach, behind the Zweibrücken rose garden, along the alley into the city center. Past the Library of the Dukes, the regional library center Bibliotheca Bipontina, you reach the triangular Schlossplatz with the former ducal palace in the style of Nordic Baroque. Over the central bus station lies Alexanderskirche with the next Muschelstein very nearby. Through Hauptstraße with pedestrian zone, the Muschelstein Loop turns left into Poststraße and then left into Kohlenhofweg. It follows the course of Schwarzbach to Ernstweiler and the Protestant Church at the corner of Homburger Straße/Gottlieb-Daimler-Straße. Via Kohlenhofweg back, you reach Herzogplatz with the Zweibrücken town hall via Herzogstraße. Over Goetheplatz with playground, cross Gutenbergstraße and follow Schwarzbachallee past the stud farm Zweibrücken and the festival hall. After crossing Saarlandstraße, you are back at the starting point at the parking lot in front of the festival hall.
