"For about 150 years, the wolf was considered extinct in Germany. In recent years, however, wolves have repeatedly come from Poland, the Czech Republic, or Italy to Germany and partly settled here. Wolves in Europe inhabit various habitats. They can live in natural landscapes as well as in landscapes shaped by humans." The wolf is back in the Palatinate Forest Nature Park. The first officially confirmed traces were left in September 2015 in Dahner Felsenland.
Whether it stays and whether a self-sustaining population can develop remains to be seen. "Wolves avoid contact with humans and retreat—usually before a person even notices anything."

PWV-Hütte im SchneiderfeldSafety information
Particularly in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can cover uneven spots, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rains, trees may still fall or branches drop later. Especially in adverse weather, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Sure-footedness is required in places. You should expect such path impairments when hiking. If you find certain sections impassable, you should avoid them. Despite the "unerring" marking of premium and circular hiking trails, we recommend you always carry a suitable hiking map for safety, so that, for example, you find a safe area quickly in a storm or emergency.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting parties on this platform. Nonetheless, there may be situations where hiking trails are closed and we were not informed. If you encounter closures or detours on site, please heed the instructions for your own safety.
