Hatzenbühl is the oldest tobacco growing community in Germany. In 1573, Pastor Anselm Anselmann first cultivated tobacco in the parsonage garden of Hatzenbühl in Germany. The tobacco circular route was created to inform about the tradition of tobacco cultivation and its importance for the community and the region. The information boards along the path and further boards at the tobacco sheds are self-explanatory and allow the viewer to understand and appreciate the hard work involved with the tobacco plant. The long tobacco tradition is represented by the Hatzenbühl Tobacco Queen. Particularly appealing for an excursion are the months of July and August when the tobacco plants are in bloom. Expert and free guided tours are offered on request.
Author’s recommendation
Tobacco in a different way - The Geudertheimer tobacco variety, with its pink blossom, is also very appealing for planting on terraces.
