The Water Story is a modern experiential trail mainly designed for families with children. It is located in the lower part of the Demänovská Valley, following the bed of the Demänovka stream along its entire length. Visitors learn interesting facts about the water element and its natural significance through educational panels and stops. In addition, they can recharge at resting spots.
The trail is 4 kilometers long and is not demanding. The entire trail is divided into two imaginary sections based on access options and attractiveness. The first part leads from Hotel Bystrina (bus stop) to Hotel Chopok, where the route smoothly continues to the other side of the stream via a wooden bridge. This part of the trail is more attractive and leads from Hotel Chopok past the Demänovská Ice Cave to the most visited Slovak cave, the Demänovská Cave of Freedom.

Tips and suggestions
The route is very pleasant during hot summer days when you can hide from the heat in the cool shade of the forests and enjoy the refreshing water of the Demänovka. The trail is not demanding; rather, it is a pleasant walk. At its end, you can continue to the Vyvieranie Valley.
Roadbook
The entire trail is divided into two imaginary sections based on access options and attractiveness. The first part leads from Hotel Bystrina (bus stop) to Hotel Chopok, where the route smoothly continues to the other side of the stream via a wooden bridge. It follows the route of an existing tourist trail (green). The second part of the route is more attractive and leads from Hotel Chopok around the Demänovská Ice Cave to the most visited Slovak cave, the Demänovská Cave of Freedom. Along the route, there are benches and natural-artistic elements related to a legend about a dragon that supposedly lived in the local caves. The trail is partially connected with green and blue tourist markings.

The Demänovská Valley is connected to Liptovský Mikuláš by a regular bus service, which is fairly well timed to meet the needs of tourists.
Parking
The starting point of the route is located directly at the bus stop, as is the route’s endpoint. There is also an official parking lot at the starting point, parking is free and has sufficient capacity.
