The ice cave is located in the mountain range Slovak Paradise and is one of the biggest and most interesting of Europe’s very few ice caves.

It was discovered by local residents in 1870 and soon afterwards made accessible to tourists. Since 2000 the cave is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of the caves of Aggtelek and Slovak Kast site.
