Thematic circular trail in the village of Miklušovce will lead you to a magical forest where the fairy tale story of the goblin Mikluš and the little girl Zuzka comes to life. Nature, experiential stations, and original wooden sculptures create an ideal environment for a walk with children.
The Fairy Tale Trail of the goblin Mikluš is an easy hiking-educational circuit in the Čierna hora mountains, primarily designed for children and families. The route starts in the upper part of the village Miklušovce near the bus stop, where you will also find an information board with a map.
The trail is accompanied by the story of the goblin Mikluš, who according to local legend protected the forest and helped the village to flourish. Along the route, there are several interactive stops where children can exercise their senses (hearing, smell, touch, sight), read part of the story, or simply swing.
At the top of the trail, there is the Miklušovské Skaly viewpoint (596 m above sea level), which offers a beautiful view of the surrounding countryside. However, the place requires increased caution.
The trail has two return options – a shorter forest variant around the pond with a fire pit and seating or a more entertaining "sensory" variant with additional tasks. The entire route is well marked, creatively designed, and has a great atmosphere that delights both children and adults.
Author’s recommendation
If you want to give children their first "hiking experience" where they won’t get bored, the Fairy Tale Trail of the goblin Mikluš is an ideal choice. It is short, full of interaction, with a story they can experience firsthand. I recommend combining the trip with a small picnic by the pond or choosing the sensory route, which entertains children and also teaches them something. And don’t forget – you might even meet Mikluš himself!
More experienced hikers at the trail junction can decide whether to end their journey in the village or take a longer route towards Klenov and from there to Roháčka (the highest peak of the Čierna hora mountain range).

Safety information
The highest part of the route involves a steeper and rockier ascent – increase caution, especially with children! It is not recommended to approach the edge of the viewpoint without supervision.
The trail is not suitable for baby strollers or bicycles – the terrain is sometimes narrow and rugged.
Do not leave children unsupervised, watch the trail signs, and do not disturb forest inhabitants.
