The Pletschmühle, the namesake of the circular route, has a two-part history.
Over 400 years ago, a mill near Pörrbach was listed in a mill directory from 1600 as one of four mills in the jurisdiction of Weilerbach. As the Pörrbach mill, directly at the border area to Schwedelbach on a brook in Kämmerling, only sparse information exists. The mill disappeared during the Thirty Years' War and after the war only four families lived in Schwedelbach and one in Pörrbach. At this time the fate of the small mill was lost to history.
In 1734 a new mill was built, now just on Schwedelbach's territory, marking the beginning of the second part of the mill's history. The water splashing onto the overshot water wheel gave the mill its name "Pletschmühle."
From 1880, besides milling, bakery work was also carried out. Until the First World War, people from surrounding villages came to buy bread at the Pletschmühle, sometimes called "uff de Perrbacher Mühl" in dialect.
Grinding was still done at the mill until 1947. With the property's connection to the electrical grid in December 1956, the water wheel, the mill's visual hallmark, disappeared. Until then, the required electricity was self-generated via water power and a dynamo.

Safety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that leaves lying on the ground can hide unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees may still fall or branches drop. On natural paths, muddy and slippery sections can occur in adverse weather conditions. Not all rocks or drops are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You should expect such path impairments when hiking. If you find certain sections not passable, you should detour around them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where trails are closed and we have not been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.
