Roadbook
Follow the symbol of the cross and image shrine route
The starting point is the cemetery in Renchen-Ulm, with a start panel and route description. From there, if you head towards Mösbach, after about 350 m at the Sternebühlbuckel stands an old image shrine made of red sandstone, crafted in the early years of the 19th century. The path then leads you through the orchards to Renchen-Ulm. After passing four more small monuments, you reach the parish church of St. Mauritius. Further small monuments are located around the parish church.
At the town exit towards Stadelhofen, at the fork between Oberkircher Straße and Appenweierer Straße, stands the Magdalena Hause wayside cross.
Follow the signposted trail through the orchards and, after a short detour through the industrial area, walk along the Ulmer Dorfbach through Armenhöfestraße. There you will find the image shrine of Ida Welle. Passing through sparsely populated streets, you come past Rothof and reach the water reservoir after a short climb. In an open log cabin, on a massive granite block, stands the two-meter-high limewood figure of Saint Mauritius. From here you have a splendid view over the vineyards and forests of the foreland zone and the Rhine plain. In clear weather, you can spot the tower of Strasbourg Cathedral in the distance, distinguished against the Vosges.
Via the Gaishaldeweg, you walk past the Kaier forest playground. The last kilometer leads you through orchards back to the starting point.
