From the red sand dunes by the shore of Lake Pallas, a beautiful fell landscape as shown in the picture opens up. The campfire site is a good place to admire the scenery and enjoy your packed lunch. Camping is only allowed in the designated camping area (6 tent sites), not on the sand or the shoreline. Making fires is only permitted at official campfire sites.

Upon arriving at the accessible day lodge at Red Sand, there is limited parking space for cars along the gravel road (maximum 10 cars in angled parking). There is no designated parking lot or accessible parking spaces, but the road is wider at the start of the route.

When moving from the gravel road to the route, the path slopes downward with a gradient of 12% over about 3 meters. After this, for approximately 15 meters, there are loose stones. After that starts a firm gravel path with stones edging it.

The flat route through the pine forest descends about 7 meters over 280 meters. There are some exposed stones and roots on the route. The most challenging parts of the route are two steeper sections with a 12% gradient over about 3 meters.

The campfire site is beside the route near the shore. The campfire site has a 1 meter wide access opening. Fixed benches surround the campfire site, and the ground is firm gravel. The wood shelter is not accessible.

There is also the Red Sand day lodge by the shore of Lake Pallas. A ramp built of crosswise planks leads to the lodge. The ramp is 95 cm wide and has no handrails. The ramp has an 11% gradient. The ramp leads to the lodge's terrace and from the terrace further into the lodge. The door's free width is 80 cm. There is a 6 cm high threshold at the door, with small ramps on both sides to ease crossing the threshold.

Inside the lodge are a stove, a wood box, a cabin table, and movable benches. The table is accessible with a wheeled aid. Fixed benches line two walls of the lodge.

About 30 meters away is a non-accessible toilet. An accessible dry toilet was completed in autumn 2020.

There is no accessible path to the shore and the beach sand is soft.

The route is described from the parking area towards Lake Pallas. We recommend an escort for the route.
