Otterbach - Waldforscher path in Himmelreich
Are you researchers, explorers, nature lovers, or even environmentalists?
Here is a secret tip for you: the Waldforscher path in Himmelreich. Over 2 km, you can inform yourself, play, make music, and have lots of fun. This winding path is ideal for primary school children because the teaching material forms the basis for the colorful information panels. Here you can discover various habitats. The focus is on the forest ecosystem, but the meadow and its inhabitants are also explained. What massages, tickles, and brings great fun? The barefoot path. A relief for shoe-weary feet. At the end, you have to prove your balancing skills on a "poisonous" snake.
In the heart of the Waldforscher path lies the forest classroom with 30 seats, a lectern, and a blackboard. So don't forget chalk! Of course, you can also take a wonderful break here. The sounds of the wooden xylophone fill the silence with unique tones. The small shelter is guarded by an owl. Can you jump farther than a fox? You will find out at the animal long jump. The tree slice puzzle should be easy for you to solve after studying the information panels. Along the way, you'll pass a woodpecker. You are allowed to elicit its typical knocking sound using a string.
Let your researcher heart run free and try new perspectives. Feel free to bring your magnifying cup to take a closer look at interesting things. Make yourself small like a beetle on the meadow or enjoy the view into the treetops by lying on a bench in the forest classroom. See what scurries between the stones or inhabits the tree trunk.
Keep in mind: the tour of the 2 km long path takes about 1 hour. Think of sturdy footwear and suitable tick protection. The path cannot be used with a stroller or wheelchair.
Do you feel like coming? I am waiting for you on the Waldforscher path.

PWV Waldhaus im Himmelreich, OtterbachSafety information
General information:
Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can cover unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees can still fall or branches break off. Especially in adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all cliffs or drops are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections are not accessible for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where paths are closed and we might not have been informed. Should you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please observe the instructions for your own safety.
