From the valley station of the Imbergbahn (possible ascent) we hike southwards up to the ridge slope of the Imberg. Then it continues first westwards, then turning left along the alpine path past the Alpe Hochbühl, down over the Lanzenbach and uphill again to the Alpe Hochwies with the chapel of St. John the Baptist.
We continue hiking uphill, past the Alpe Hörmoos, up to the Schneeloch junction. From here we follow the signs to the Schilpere-Alpe (Marienbildstöckle). Down the alpine path we then reach the valley station of the Hochgratbahn. A detour to the Mittlere Simatsgund-Alpe, where there is a St. James chapel, is worthwhile here. It can be reached from the Hochgratbahn via the alpine path eastwards.
Right at the valley station of the Hochgratbahn we cross the Weißach and follow the path westwards along the river to the Tarzansteg. On this we cross the Weißach again. Now we go uphill again, following the signs, up to the main road. We walk a short distance to the right on the road and then turn immediately left onto the footpath. It leads us through the golf course back to the starting point of our hike. Alternatively, you can take the bus from the Hochgratbahn valley station back to the starting point.
