On the Huovisen Konstan Lenkin mobile route, you get to know Konsta's distinctive thinking in the beautiful scenery of Hiukka. On the route, Konsta reflects on humanity and different kinds of wisdom.
The route set in the winding scenery of Hiukka ridge is a great way to enjoy nature unhurriedly while getting to know the philosophy of Konsta Pylkkänen, a character of the well-known Sotkamo writer Veikko Huovinen. Partly following Sotkamo municipality's nature trail, Huovisen Konstan Lenkin combines mobile technology, walking and cultural experience. The route's digital content is viewable in the Atla service at https://atla.fi/fi/vuokatti/kartta/kokoelma/huovisen-konstan-lenkki. The beginning of the route circles from Hiukka beach upwards to pine forest on a rather wide outdoor route climbing to the ridge near the water tower. From the tower, the route continues on a narrower forest path descending from the ridge towards the Hiukka shore cliff. Finally, you climb to admire the hill views opening from Hiukka to the highest point of the shore cliff. Huovisen Konstan Lenkin is easy to walk in terms of terrain except for a few spots.

Tips and suggestions
Hiukka is a unique recreational area with a Finnish baseball stadium and magnificent sandy beaches. In addition to Huovisen Konstan Lenkin, Hiukka has a well-maintained outdoor trail system with running routes of 2.5, 3 and 5 kilometers. There is a children's playground on the beach, beach volleyball and tennis courts, outdoor gym, petanque area and the Sotkamo municipality kota which can be reserved for private use. The café is open in summer. Changing rooms, showers and toilets are in the service building right by the beach.
Berry and mushroom picking is allowed. The area has lingonberries, blueberries, crowberries and bilberries.

The starting point of Huovisen Konstan Lenkin is at Hiukka sandy beach, which itself is worth seeing: a 200 m long, shallow sandy beach. You can view the digital content of Konstan Lenkin in the Atla service. Here's how to proceed:

2. You will see the map and info view of Huovisen Konstan Lenkin in your phone's web browser.

The route mainly goes on a rather narrow path in varied dry forest terrain, but sometimes also on a wider outdoor route base. At the beginning of the route there is the steepest climb to the foot of the water tower. On top of the ridge there are also the foundations of the old ski jump. At this point Huovisen Konstan Lenkin turns sharply to the right down and back towards Hiukka along a wide outdoor route near the shore of Sapsojärvi. The path climbs to a hillock where you can rest, admire the views and enjoy your snacks at the table-bench combination. After this, the return path to Hiukka is downhill, with a distance of a few hundred meters.

By car/bicycle from Vuokatti: about 10 kilometers to Sotkamo center. Follow the signs "Hiukka beach". At the Neste gas station intersection, turn right and follow the signs.
