Heidenheimer Brenzregion
A must for every railway enthusiast: We follow the tracks of the historic Härtsfeldbahn between Neresheim and Dischingen.
From Neresheim we follow the railway line of the Härtsfeldbahn to Dischingen. On the approximately 10 km long route, we pass the Gallusmühle, the old Härtsfeld factories, and the Sägmühle, visit the stops Iggenhausen and Katzenstein, and can enjoy a relaxed break at the Härtsfeldsee. In Dischingen, our bike tour ends at the old station.

Roadbook
The themed trail is best explored by bike or, between May and October on the running days of the museum railway, by boarding the Härtsfeldschättere to the final stop Katzenstein and then adding a hike. Our route starts at the station in Neresheim, where three information boards about the Härtsfeldbahn are located. From the station, we ride across the parking lot and then a short stretch along the main road towards the outskirts. Turning right, we continue to the Gallusmühle, where we cross the Egau and follow the road south. At the next fork, we take the left turn and continue parallel to the railway tracks. Our path now leads along the forest edge, past the former Härtsfeld factories, to the Sägmühle. From here we cycle on the wide gravel path parallel to the tracks and the Egau to the Härtsfeldbahn stop in Iggenhausen. In the village, we follow the Wacholderweg straight ahead back to the outskirts and cycle slightly uphill towards the fields. At the top of the crossroads, we turn left and shortly afterward reach the Egau again. We cross the bridge and follow the path along the northern edge of the Härtsfeldsee until the information board at the Katzenstein stop. Our path continues around the lake, where benches along the shore invite you to a relaxed rest with great views over the lake. On the opposite side of the lake, we turn left and follow the marking Grüner Pfad Härtsfeld through the fields towards Dischingen. Cycling directly along the Egau, we reach the town edge and continue straight on the lake path. We turn left into Alte Egau street and then take Torstraße left towards the outskirts. Slightly set back on the right side of the street is the station with the last information board, where our bike tour ends.
