The educational trail starts already in the village of Muráň. Its first stop is situated next to the Municipal Office and provides you with introductory information about the educational trail route. From this spot, you can already see the rock Cigánka (938 m a.s.l.), which rises above Muráň. On its top, in the middle of the National Nature Reserve of the same name, are the ruins of Muráň Castle.
The route continues along the school to the forest edge, to the symbolic entrance gate of the educational trail, and then further along a forest path, parallel with the red-marked hiking trail.
While completing it, through 14 panels and 2 information points, you will learn a lot about the natural beauties and attractions of the Muránska Plateau National Park, as well as about the history of Muráň Castle. The rock formation Cigánka will provide you with an impressive view of the wide surroundings.

In autumn and winter, the last section of the route before the castle gate may be icy, which is slightly dangerous due to the steepness of the terrain and requires caution.Tips and suggestions
Near the Cottage under the Castle, there is a spring where you can refill your water supplies.
Time planning: Due to the large elevation gain (555 meters) for the ascent to the castle from the village of Muráň, a physically fit hiker must reserve at least 60 minutes, a less experienced hiker about 90 minutes.
