Safety information
A part of the riverside path on the Swiss side is about 4-5 meters steep above the Rhine. It is not very suitable for small children due to tree roots and unevenness. Also, caution is advised in some places on wet leaves.

Roadbook
The beautiful hiking trail begins below the Antonius Chapel at the Rötteln parking lot and the signpost location Schloss Rötteln. It is very well signposted on the German Rhine side by the Black Forest Association with a yellow lozenge.
Upstream along the Rhine, the lovely riverside path leads to sculpture (1) and the Hohentengen swimming pool with campsite. (Simple dining options during the bathing season) Afterwards, the yellow lozenge guides the hiker along the undeveloped Rhine shore. Via a staircase and briefly a few meters above the Rhine through the forest and back to the Rhine, the first houses of Herdern are reached. After the sculpture "Die Rote," it goes over a small bridge and a staircase up to the Herdern campsite. Above the campsite, the path leads across open fields and forest to the signpost location Power Plant Rheinsfelden. On a well-secured path, it continues over the impressive power plant with lock and the historic customs house to the Swiss side of the Rhine. Once there, the yellow signpost points right towards Zweidlen. After about 100 meters at the house on the right side, the sculpture trail continues. About 20 meters after the sculpture ("Sphere 4"), at a concrete base, we ignore a branching path to the right and continue straight to a driveway. This leads us to a hut with a resting and barbecue area as well as a beautiful view down to the Rhine.
Straight ahead shortly after the hut to a barrier. Now on a narrow root path, about 4-5 meters steep above the Rhine, to a bunker from World War II. Subsequently, paths branch off left or right, all of which are ignored. The path soon becomes easier and leads the hiker to a signpost labelled Rhine Riverside Path - Kaiserstuhl. Now on a pleasant, wide path to the distinctive "Chair Sculpture" with a nice rest and barbecue area. The path is very well signposted here, and soon Kaiserstuhl and the Rhine bridge with Schloss Rötteln and the parking lot are reached.
