Our hike leads us on an approximately 4 km circular route once around Neresheim Abbey with many insights into the Baroque period. From the abbey we walk over the "Napoleon Rock" further to the forest chapel Maria Buch, which invites you to a contemplative rest. Past the former sheepfold Abeles Hof we return over the old Gaulweg to the abbey.

    Roadbook

Our 4 km long circular hike begins at the first information panel at the parking lot in front of Neresheim Abbey and is marked with a blue angel. We follow the asphalt path directly along the monastery wall to the back of the abbey. On the sidewalk, we walk along the street past the monastery garden gently uphill. Opposite Alte Kösinger Str. 37 b, we turn left and follow the forest path, which again immediately branches right, gently downhill into the forest. At the bottom at the fork in the path, we walk to the right for a worthwhile detour to the Maria Buch chapel. Several benches invite you to a contemplative rest in the clearing. After our detour, we return to the fork in the forest and walk steadily downhill on the right forest path. At the forest edge, we encounter the expressway, which we follow downhill to the left. Shortly afterwards, a small asphalt road branches off to the left, which leads us uphill towards the abbey. Past magnificent avenue trees, we walk steadily uphill and can enjoy beautiful views of Neresheim and the surroundings. At the top at the abbey, we follow the right turn past the information panel along the slope downhill again and meet the main access road to the abbey at the bottom. We follow this steeply uphill to the left directly to the abbey and reach our starting point at the parking lot again at the top.
