Very nice route that depends on good conditions. The timing of the entry is extremely important, as snow conditions can change very quickly depending on time of day, sun, and wind.
If you get into it, you can wonderfully "play" with it.
The Breite Ries is mostly only skied down but can be ascended as well under good conditions, good to get to know snow conditions. However, conditions in the Ries change quite quickly depending on the sun's angle of incidence.
Good to ski until May with sufficient snow; further down the snow may run out or some stones may appear.
Author’s recommendation
Depending on conditions, various options are possible.
It is best to check the conditions on site and then choose the best variant for yourself depending on the conditions.
The Edelweisshütte and the Fischerhütte invite you to stop for a break...

Safety information
Partly rocky because often only little snow is left in the lower area. Bring crampons and ice axe depending on conditions. The right timing of the time of day is very important to have good conditions.
In emergencies, do not hesitate to call mountain rescue at number 140.

Roadbook
Ascent from Losenheim via the Fadensteig to the entrance of the Breite Ries. Caution when crossing snowfields, please bring crampons and possibly an ice axe. Approximately at km 5, turn east towards the entry. You can choose between the direct entry (marked with an iron rod) or the classic one slightly further down at about 2000m above sea level. The entry is practically diagonally into the gully; after a narrowing, the Breite Ries opens up with often piste-like conditions.
Depending on snow conditions, descend to the northern Grafensteig at about 1300m.
In good conditions, also down to about 1100m, then cross northwards and continue to the ski run and further to Losenheim, the start point of the route.
