Although the Fürstenplan is clearly visible from Lackenhof, it does not make a particularly spectacular impression. However, the descent is surprisingly scenic and enjoyable. This is rightly very popular and is often piste-like. The entrance is not easy to find in fog. The gully itself is not actually orientated to the N, but to the W, so it opens late and does not require too early an entry.

    Safety information

Orientation:Easy up to the Ötscher shelter, then somewhat confusing through the mountain pine zone until you reach the ridge. From 1700 m, more difficult in fog, but bearable. But be careful on switchbacks to the S! In fog, make sure you enter the Fürstenplan in the right direction!

Avalanches: An issue everywhere in the steep flanks and gullies, so careful planning and correct timing are required.

    Roadbook

Marked tourer ascent to the Ötscher-Schutzhaus during the ski season (fee € 8): From the rear car park in Weitental, continue along the road to the edge of the forest. There turn right, through the forest slightly uphill and soon to piste 2. Up the left edge of the piste, then turn left onto the ski trail. After a right-hand bend, continue on the ski path. From here, turn left into the forest. Now off-piste up to the Ötscher shelter, 1 ½ hours.

Ascent to the Ötscher-Schutzhaus, if skiing has already ceased in spring (not marked on the map): Initially ascend gently on the piste to the SE next to the Sulzgraben, then with a sharp bend to the right back to the lift route and up the long, steep slope in many hairpin bends to the Ötscher shelter. 1 ½ hrs.

Further ascent to the Ötscher: From the Ötscher shelter head directly east into the sparse forest, then through mountain pine fields up to the mountain ridge, 1700 m. Continue over the rocky, stepped ridge (watch out for switchbacks to the S!). At 1800 m a flat section, then over the last upswing to the cross on the western edge of the summit plateau. 1 ½ hours.

Descent: From the summit cross, first briefly to the SW, then at 1850 m keep slightly to the right into the hollow that forms only hesitantly at first. The Fürstenplan gradually takes shape and becomes steeper. Through a narrow section, then turn right once and continue downwards in pleasurable turns. At 1250 m, due to avalanche snow, turn left out of a western side trench onto a forest ridge and through a beautiful track to a forest road east of the Bergl, 1097 m. Turn left over a saddle to a fork, then left again to the end of the forest road. Here in the forest down to a ditch, through this out to the piste and back to the start.

Descent variant: To the west of the Fürstenplan itself, there are several steep gullies and flanks for different entry variants.

If there is enough snow, the descent can also be continued to the Ötscherwiese. Particularly rewarding if the ascent is via the Rauen Kamm.
