It definitely cannot be due to the scenic ambience and descent enjoyment. Both are great.
However, stable conditions are needed at the latest for the steep final slopes up to Lackenspitze.
Author’s recommendation
Those who instead descend further northeast beneath the saddle and then reach it again by a short uphill enjoy more descent pleasure.

Especially steep and demanding ski route in the upper part. Stable snow conditions, good fitness, and secure ascent & descent technique required. Also some sense of direction, especially because the route cannot always be assumed to be tracked yet. Also pay attention to the catchment areas of the surrounding slopes between Metzgerhütten and Wildalmsee, especially towards Rosskogel!
Roadbook
Approximately 4 hours from the starting point to the summit.
From the parking lot, ascend gently over the meadow to the west until you reach a forest road (or come directly here on the road from the starting point). On the road, go briefly south and at the next junction (at about 1,300 m) turn right. From here, follow the forest road in several switchbacks uphill until shortly before the Lower Neuwirtsalm. At about 1,480 m, turn left onto a cart track. Follow it first south, then west or southwest. This leads to the open alpine pastures at the Metzgerhütten (approx. 1,740 m).
Through open larch forest upwards to the south, before turning southwest at about 1,900 m (still before the Wildalmsee) and crossing flat terrain. Finally, ascend a somewhat steeper slope into the saddle between Rosskogel & Grubachspitze (approx. 2,050 m). At the saddle stands the Krauthacklhütte (hunting hut). Here you get your first good view into the large cirque between Lackenspitze and Grubachspitze, where the further ascent takes place.
From the saddle, cross over to the left slopes, staying as much as possible at the same altitude, to the rockslide area with huge rock blocks (impressive landscape!). Sneak through the path of least resistance between the rock debris, then ascend the cirque over an increasingly steep slope to the southwest. You reach the connecting ridge Lackenspitze - Grubachspitze slightly east below the Lackenspitze. Here turn right (northwest), on or just below the ridge, towards the summit structure of Lackenspitze. There is normally a ski cache near some rocks. Shortly thereafter, ascend very steeply on foot to the summit of Lackenspitze (2,459 m).
Descent:
Basically follows the ascent route.
At the foot of the summit slope (near the rockslide area), it is usually more rewarding not to cross directly back to the saddle between Rosskogel and Grubachspitze (approx. 2,050 m). Instead, descend further northeast to about 2,020 m. From there, a short uphill to the east leads back into the saddle.
The cart track between Metzgerhütten and the forest road (near the Lower Neuwirtshütte) is partly very narrow and requires secure descent technique.
