Mürzzuschlag's local mountain is a popular meeting point for mountain enthusiasts who are not only looking for an attractive, not too long ski tour in a convenient location during storms, bad weather or high avalanche danger. The tour leads across meadows, forest passages, forest roads and an abandoned piste, offering excellent refreshment stops along the way and concluding with a summit experience with a cross and a view: plenty of variety in a small space! Especially recommended after fresh snowfall and at the start of the season to familiarise yourself with the equipment.

    Roadbook

Ascent:Follow the road directly from the car park into the Eichhorntal valley on skis until the sharp right-hand bend. After crossing the stream, take a steeper left uphill across meadows to the W, past two farmsteads and to the old ski lift. Up the piste and on a cart track soon to the Kaarlhütte. Continue N, then keep slightly left up the summit track to the highest point. 2 ¼ hours.

Descent: From the summit, either ski down the summit track to the Kaarlhütte or, a little more arduous at first, along the ridge to the east to a clearing, and down to the right to the ascent track, just below the Kaarlhütte. Then, as with the ascent, ski back to the starting point.
