From notch to notch, around the Dremelspitze, even without a summit an impressive and varied route for the experienced ski tourer.

The steep descent from the often corniced western Dremel notch down to the Steinsee requires secure conditions as does the descent from the eastern Dremelspitze.

    Author’s recommendation

Overnight stay in the winter room of the Hanauer Hut is best during the week. Despite stove, gas stove has not hurt. Stop after the tour in the cozy inn in Bschlabs. The Steinsee Hut also has a winter room (AV lock).

    Roadbook

From the winter room of the Hanauer Hut 1922m (open) it goes over the Parzin Alpine pasture to the western Dremel notch. The mostly corniced ridge descends quite steeply to the Steinsee at about 2200m; secure skiing in steep terrain and low avalanche warning level are required. Once at the bottom, a great view of the Bergwerkskopf awaits us; the Steinsee Hut 2061m is not far away but is not visible on this route. Then you put skins back on and head northeast to the eastern Dremel notch (only a bit steeper in the upper section). Once at the top, skins are removed again and you descend over initially steep terrain, partly corniced, the eastern Dremel notch. Then traverse to the right to maintain elevation, continuing northwards. After a slight ascent, you can traverse westward at about 2280m to reach the shaded powder slopes preserved in spring. Then descent to Boden after a short ascent past the Hanauer Hut.
