Roadbook
This bike route/hiking route starts and ends in the center of Buchen, directly at the Mariensäule in front of the Tourist Information. The "Buchener Mariensäule" is also popularly called "the Bild"; it is a landmark of Buchen and its surroundings, the "Madonnenland", and was erected in 1754.
Special attention is given along the route through the transitional landscape between Odenwald and Bauland to the numerous Bildstöcke. Since a large number of these are dedicated to the Virgin Mary, they have given the landscape the name “Madonnenland”.
The route leads through the Buchen district of Hollerbach, past the Hollersee and the Buchen forest swimming pool back to the center of Buchen.
Tip: About one kilometer from Hollerbach, a path branches off to the right at a shelter. A trail leads through meadows to the Hollersee located in the forest, which invites you to linger with tables and benches.
Tip: Idyllically located in the Buchen Mühltal, surrounded by an 11,000 m² large sunbathing area, is the solar-heated forest swimming pool. Equipped with a children's playground, Wi-Fi, table soccer, and a newly opened slackline park, a visit is especially recommended during the hot summer months.
You can find catering options in the district of Hollerbach and in the center of Buchen.
