Path Through Cultivated Fields - Path 709 on foot
Rather long itinerary, with stretches of poor signage and a short part crossing cultivated fields without a path.
From the square, take the road that climbs towards the upper village and immediately turn onto the first street on the left that crosses the fields of Cascina Scarampi and reaches the hamlet of Luparia, where you turn right and, after passing the small church, take the gravel lane on the left (Vicolo dei Poggi) that leads to the foot of the fortified walls, where you turn left and continue uphill towards the entrance of the Castle of Camino, the oldest in Monferrato (11th century).
Near the small clearing, make a sharp left turn and descend with a few switchbacks onto the asphalt road which is followed for a few hundred meters, then turn left again onto a flat country lane, which offers pleasant panoramic views; at a fork near a farmhouse, leave the main road that turns right and continue straight downhill; skirting a vineyard and crossing a clearing, descend towards the provincial road in the valley bottom, still without signs.
Upon reaching the asphalt, take a left and shortly after, near a poplar grove, turn right, passing near the chimney of the old kiln and ascending into the woods until emerging onto a country lane, where you turn right and then immediately left on a slight descent, among cultivated fields.
At the next fork, turn left and climb towards the ridge opposite, where you turn right, reaching the hamlet of Fabiano which you pass through; after the church, take Via Marconi and shortly after take the country lane on the left that descends towards the valley bottom, then ascends to the hamlet of Rocchetta di Pontestura.
Passing left of the church, descend onto asphalt and immediately take the left carriage road which descends crossing a clearing; upon reaching the valley bottom, continue on a beautiful country lane, among meadows and tree-lined rows, until reaching the asphalt road.
Turn right and then immediately left after a few meters, leaving the asphalt and passing behind the Biglia mill building, where you need to walk along the edge of the cultivated field, ascending towards the asphalt (it is advisable at certain times, for example with ripe wheat, to continue instead on asphalt towards Camino, ignoring the signs inviting you to pass behind the mill).
Continue ascending towards Camino, keeping right at the next fork and crossing the hamlet of Cornale, which offers a splendid panoramic view, until returning to the weighing square, where the itinerary started.
