Today's hike takes us mainly northwards through hilly terrain. Behind Maslacq, we will cross the Gave de Pau, which flows northwards to the Atlantic. After this crossing, we will need about another half hour to reach Arthez-de-Béarn.
In the stage town of Arthez-de-Béarn, a square behind the church offers a good southwest view of the Gave de Pau valley with the Pyrenees lying behind it, a view of the areas we have traversed in recent days.
Note(s)
The "Jerusalem Way / JERUSALEM WAY" is a network of pilgrimage routes that leads pilgrims from Central Europe to Jerusalem. Jerusalem, together with Rome and Santiago de Compostela, is one of the three most important Christian pilgrimage destinations of the Middle Ages. This route starts at Cape Finisterra on the west coast of Europe and leads either through Italy or along the Danube through the Balkans to Turkey, and from there on a common route to Jerusalem.
