Today we once again enjoy the Dept. Gers - somewhat hilly, paths often off the roads, and along the way the charming little town of Montréal-Du-Gers, a suitable place for refreshments and also overnight stay.
A highlight of this stage is the well-preserved mountain village Larressingle, which is still completely surrounded by the old city wall. However, this village is not directly on the route, but the additional 2 kilometers are worth it.
Condom (founded in the 11th century) lies in the midst of Armagnac and in the heart of Gascony. It is known in historically interested art circles because of the cathedral Saint-Pierre, and in culinary circles because of its top brandy "Armagnac." By the way, we should also visit the church St. Jacques (beyond the "La Baïse"), because after all, we are also on the Way of St. James.
Important: The small <detour> to the village Larressingle north of the route on a hill (a total of about 2 km).
Note(s)
The "Jerusalem Way / JERUSALEM WAY" is a network of pilgrimage routes that lead pilgrims from Central Europe to Jerusalem. Jerusalem, together with Rome and Santiago de Compostela, is one of the 3 most important Christian pilgrimage destinations of the Middle Ages. This route begins at Cape Finisterra on the west coast of Europe and leads either through Italy or along the Danube through the Balkans to Turkey, and from there on a common route again to Jerusalem.
