Difficult Nordic walking route through the vineyards
The start is at the Dürkheimer Riesenfass. From there, the path mainly leads over paved field and farm roads. At the beginning, a detour to the Michaelskapelle with a panoramic view over Bad Dürkheim is worthwhile.
After passing through Ungstein, you come past the Roman villa Weilberg where you can also pause briefly and enjoy the vineyard landscape. At the end of the tour, you return to the starting point. A few meters further from the barrel, you will find the Gradierbau (saline); here you can take a few deep breaths to conclude.

Roadbook
We start at the Dürkheimer Riesenfass, the largest barrel in the world, and follow the "Black Square" signage past the Wurstmarkt roundabout and turn left before the Agip gas station into Sachsenhütterstraße. There we take the first turn to the right, up into the vineyards to the small intersection surrounded by dry stone walls. There we turn left and walk straight ahead slightly uphill to the ridge of Spielberg, where we enjoy the great view of Pfälzerwald and the Rhine plain. The path descends to the north; at the next larger intersection we turn right towards Römerkelter and Roman villa. At the next fork at the old court site, turn right again. We follow the path to the next larger intersection. Here we turn right and immediately left again (at the planting triangle) so that we continue to follow the upper path. At the next intersection we keep left and walk slightly downhill, crossing the street past Pfeffingen. At the next intersection in the vineyard, we keep left. At the row of houses of Ungstein we keep right and thus walk directly past Wolfsbrunnen. We walk straight ahead until we reach Altenbacher Straße and follow it to the left. Straight ahead over the roundabout. At the end of Gundheimer Gasse slightly right to the exit of Ungstein. At the cemetery we cross the street and turn to the parking lot of the Roman villa Weilberg. From there, we walk slightly uphill to the Roman villa. Behind the villa, we walk left following the lower grass path (pulse board). At the next fork, we keep left and immediately right again onto the main path. At the end, right and then immediately left again so that we cross the street and walk briefly towards Annaberg. We do not continue on the road but turn directly left and right into the second field path and keep below the road. At the next larger field path, we turn left. At the next opportunity, we turn right so that we walk partly along the forest edge back to Bad Dürkheim. At the end, the path makes a left curve so that we meet the wine tavern Bart on the L517 and keep right and already have the starting point, the giant barrel, in sight.
