From the Essener Rostocker Hut, head north along the Maurer Bach, trail No. 912. After about 30 minutes, turn right towards the Johanneshütte, trail No. 913. The Schweriner Weg takes us with a pleasant ascent to the Türmljoch at 2790 m. Descend over an east-facing slope, passing the Adlerkamm to the Johanneshütte. From here, head east and uphill to the Venediger Höhenweg until the Zopartscharte at 2958 m. The descent with switchbacks is steep, partly secured with ropes, and through scree and rubble.
In the Kleinitztal, you cross the Tümmelbach, then continue southwards to the Eisseehütte.
