CAMINS
The Tuc de Pòdo is a 2,729 m mountain located in the Lake Cirque of Colomers, on the peripheral area of the Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici National Park.
The Cirque of Colomers is a north-facing glacial cirque in the Val d'Aran. It is made up of a series of peaks exceeding 2500 m altitude and contains more than 48 lakes of different sizes forming the headwaters of the Garona River through the Aiguamòg.
Originally its name was Tuc del Estany de Cap de Tort, but in 1879 or 1880 Maurice Gordon (French Pyreneist) renamed it "Pouce de Colomèrs". The name has also been used to name the lake located on the northern slope, Estanh de Pòdo.
The Tuc de Pòdo is an isolated monolith between the south wall of the Cirque of Colomers and the central ridge dividing the Cirque into two basins. During the peak glaciation phase, the ridge connecting the peak on the south wall of the cirque was covered by ice flowing from one slope to the other. This ice flow between the two slopes eroded the ridge at the two ends of the peak so that it became much lower.

Book recommendations for this region:
Equipment
MOUNTAIN FOOTWEAR REQUIRED (boot or shoe with specific Mountain sole)
At each stage and depending on the terrain condition and/or weather forecast, the type of shaft height of the footwear (boot or shoe) will be recommended.
CLTHING
Since the routes pass through mid and high mountain environments, and because it is an area where the weather can change quickly and drastically, WE RECOMMEND the following items regardless of the route difficulty:
- Long pants. If the characteristics of the route together with the expected weather allow the use of shorts, carry a piece to cover the rest of the exposed leg, either by carrying a second pair of pants or long leggings in the backpack in all cases.
- First layer: breathable, quick-drying short-sleeved t-shirt (tank tops are not recommended because they are not suitable with backpack carrying).
- Second layer: light/medium fleece or long-sleeved t-shirt.
- Third layer: waterproof and windproof rain jacket with hood.
- Cap / Buff or similar sun protection.
- Covid19 safety material: Mask and disinfectant gel.
Although some of these garments may not be used during the itinerary, it is recommended to carry them in the backpack throughout the route and ready to be used in case of weather changes or unforeseen events and thus avoid hypothermia in case of weather changes or incidents that prolong the day.
MINIMUM CONTENT OF THE BACKPACK
- Mountain backpack of 20-30 liters depending on the duration of the route, with waterproof cover.
- Personal first aid kit with special medications if required. (If you suffer from any pathology, illness or injury, you should inform the corresponding route guide about it.)
- Water (minimum 2 liters)
- Food (depending on the duration of the route).
- Sunscreen, cap/hat and sunglasses.
- Documentation and charged phone.
