From the former mining village of S-charl, where silver and lead were once mined, a rather short and partly steep hike leads to Mot Madlain. Here, a magnificent view of the surrounding valleys such as Val Tavrü and Val S-charl entices. In summer, the diverse flora with Edelweiss clusters can be admired.

    Author’s recommendation

    • For a break in the idyllic location of S-charl, the "Crusch Alba" and "Mayor", each with a sun terrace, invite you to stop by.
    • The mining history of S-charl can be experienced up close during guided excursions into the tunnels. Bookable at the Scuol guest information, Tel. +41 81 861 88 00.

From the village of S-charl, the path leads from the bridge at the village entrance towards Ils Chomps, gently ascending through the forest. Along the way, you pass the remains of a mining facility. Towards the tree line, the hike becomes quite steep upwards before flattening out again on the last stretch to Mot Madlain. The return down to S-charl is via the same route.
