We hike steeply uphill through the narrow alleys of Cavaglio. A beautiful forest path winds past a chapel, ascending the steep southern ridge up to the alpine village Monti Olzeno. We now follow the alpine road along several hamlets (with fountains) northwards to the saddle north of Monte Zuccaro until Alpe Spoccia. Here we leave the road to the right and cross up to the bivouac at the ruined Alpe Quadra. Above it goes through tall grass over a steep southern ridge to a saddle-shaped flattening. Below Testa Formai we cross the huge southern cirque, always ascending, and reach the west ridge of Gridone after short rocky steps. Chains help over short rock steps; the wild ridge is surprisingly easy (mostly right of the ridge spikes) on grass and rock slabs up to the large red summit cross of Gridone.
On the southeast ridge, it goes steeply over rocky steps and scree to a notch, then slightly ascending on the west flank to the stone monument of Cruit. Over its rocky southern ridge, it goes (partly secured with chains) steeply down to Passo Percatugine and over several rock steps somewhat exposed (secured with chains) up to the unadorned Punta Fronzina. Steeply down over the southern ridge to the coarse scree field and behind it easily up the northern ridge to the summit cairn of Monte Faierone. Over the broad, grass-covered southern ridge, it goes down in several stages to an alpine road. On it, we reach Alpe Rombiago and shortly after the saddle below Monte Giove. In 15 minutes, you can hike on a steep forest path to the bare summit of Monte Giove with cross and altar.
Back to the saddle, then it goes steeply down the forested west flank into the gorge of Rio Cavaglio and after crossing it, gently ascending back to the starting point in the eponymous mountain village.
