Josersee has many faces and presents itself very differently depending on the season. In the low season, the atmosphere on its shores is usually peaceful and quiet.
After the easy approach to the lake, it soon becomes steep and quite alpine. The path is unmarked but not difficult to find. However, you must be especially careful at the top not to miss the inconspicuous turnoff towards Buchbergkogel. The summit ascent then impresses with views of the rocky-wild north side of the Messnerin.
Shortly before the summit cross, you reach a ridge that drops vertically to the northeast. This is the "wild face" of Buchbergkogel, which it shows towards Bodenbauer and Häuslalm. Several caution points are required when descending along this rock edge.
After crossing Buchbergkogel, Häuslalm invites you to stop and rest before heading back down to the valley to Bodenbauer.

From Bodenbauer, follow the marked forest road towards Scheideck. At a fork with a red arrow to the right, continue straight ahead, where the marking leads to a path next to the brook, which further up meets the forest road again. Here turn left and at the following junction with the sign "Josersee" turn right. Via a pull path, you reach another forest road with wooden signposts leading to Josersee.
Directly at the forest road fork on the lake shore, a path begins and leads diagonally into the forest and soon steeply uphill to a flat clearing, crossed in a straight line (stone man). Behind it, the path soon goes steeply uphill in the forest again to a gravel field and there diagonally to the right over rocky slabs. After a short flat crossing, you soon climb steeply again in tight switchbacks over rocky slabs to a rocky ramp that leads to the right. Then you continue almost up to the edge of the terrain, where a small red marking pole stands and the main path would become flat. About 25 m before this, an inconspicuous trail branches off to the right and runs directly along the terrain edge, where you soon enjoy a spectacular view. Through sparse woodland, follow red dot markings diagonally up a ridge, further up past a doline briefly downhill again, then along the edge of dwarf pines up to the ridge where you meet the main path, which leads right to the summit of Buchbergkogel.
For the descent, follow the ridge back from the summit and continue straight on the main path, partly close to the cliff edge and later very steeply down directly through dwarf pines until you reach the marked path to Häuslam, which is then only a few meters away.
From Häuslam, a well-trodden hiking path leads back down to the valley to Gasthof Bodenbauer.
