Safety information
The danger spots are directly on the ascent and descent of the Hasentalkopf. However, the summit can be bypassed as described above. At the summit, surefootedness, a head for heights, and sturdy mountain boots are absolutely necessary. The path is exposed, offers steep views downward, and a fall would be fatal.Roadbook
However, we follow the main path, which slowly gets steeper and leads out of the forest turning west. Across meadows, it then goes up to the Lösertaljoch (1682m). Here the path splits: left to the Hochplatte and up right, our path with a short steep ascent to the Scheinbergjöchl (1764m).
On the Jöchl, a spectacular view opens into the 150 meter deep basin, at the rim of which both the Jöchl and further north the Hasentalkopf lie. If it has not been too dry in the weeks before, a small lake forms at the bottom of the basin, and those who fancy some extra elevation gain can safely descend at many points.
The main path goes a bit into the basin and along the western edge of the Hasentalkopf to the Bäckeralmsattel (1536m). Those who are not really surefooted should choose this variant excluding the summit. The small path that runs along the ridge of the basin to the summit is exposed and occasionally requires a handhold on the rock. Especially children should be experienced in mountaineering here. After a short, enjoyable scramble for mountaineers, you reach the small summit (1797m), which falls steeply on all sides. There is a great view of the Ammergau Alps, towards the Hasentalalpe, and especially into the basin.
The descent northwest down to the main path is also not quite easy; it goes over a steep, scree-covered, and slippery path. You follow the main path to the Bäckeralmsattel (1536m) to then turn right heading west again descending into the Sägertal. After a short time, you reach the junction where we initially turned towards the Hasental.

Public transport
Public transport connection is poor. From the station in Oberammergau, there is a bus (9622) to Linderhof. The remaining 2.5 kilometers to the Sägertal must be covered on foot by the hiker.Directions
Coming from Ettal/Linderhof towards Ammersattel/Plansee, about two kilometers behind Linderhof on the right side below the road is a large hiking parking lot in the clearly incised Sägertal. Winter hikers may know it, as the ski tour to the Scheinbergspitze also starts here.Parking
The parking lot is large and free of charge.Coordinates
